Adding Social Aspects to the Automatic Generation of Narratives

Carlos Iván Guerrero Román, Rafael Pérez y Pérez

Abstract

Initially, the computation models to study automatic storytelling were based on artificial intelligence techniques such as problem solving or planning. Nowadays, these systems incorporate cognitive and psychological models of creativity. However, most of them lack of accurate representations for social norms, mechanisms to extract, use or detect their rupture. Our research presents a model with these characteristics, and it can be incorporated into a narrative generator to enrich their creations. Additionally, we describe the implementation of the model within an automatic narrative generator. Finally, we show results of evaluating the perception of the people on the use of social norms when using our model in the process of creating narratives.
